Production Blog: Finding Music

Before editing the project together I decided I wanted to get one more piece of media to show who I am. This final piece of media would be music. My music taste is very diverse. I like rap, pop, electronic, but mostly indie music. Since my music taste is as diverse as it is I wanted to try and stick to one genre so that the general mood of the commercial is the same throughout. So, I first went to Spotify to search for specific albums I like. The first album I looked at was “Is This It” by The Strokes. Is This It is one of my favorite albums so this was a very obvious place to get a song from. After listening to the full album I narrowed the choices down to “The Modern Age” “Soma” and “Hard To Explain”. I’ll decide which one to use when I start editing the project so I can see which song fits the best with the video. Next, I went through one of my favorite artist’s discography for my next few songs. Production Blog: Finishing the Project

Now that I had all the videos and audios in place I could finally put it together to finish the project. To begin editing I started with the opening scene. I had three separate videos to choose from as I had Ayannah film multiple just in case. After putting all three down I decided on the last version of it that she filmed. I then put the video file into the project and cut it down till it made sense in the context of the video. Once that part was done I got the text messages that were sent and also put them into the video. I overlaid them on top of the video to show what Ayannah was doing on her phone in the opening scene. Now, the order for where the activities would be in the video wasn't determined yet so I tried different combinations to see which one looked the best. In the end I decided on ice cream, arcade, eating, and then the walking away scene. For the ice cream scene I had several angles and takes to work with so I had many choices to make. Production Blog: Filming Day Two

I showed up to Dania Pointe for the second day ready to shoot. When I got their I had to wait a couple of minutes for the rest of my group to show up. After around 15 minutes Ayannah showed up. It seemed like no one else was coming so I decided to film the rest of Ayannah's scenes. I had her go over to the movie theater. I wanted to try and film a scene with her siting in the theater. I went up to the staff of the theater but they told us that we would not be allowed to film inside of an empty movie theater. So, I instead went over to the small arcade inside the movie theater. In there I directed Ayannah on what to do and filmed her playing different games. The first game I had her play was the claw machine. I had her intentionally not win a prize as the mood is supposed to be somber for her scenes. After the claw machine we went over and filmed her playing the basketball game alone.
