The genre is highly dependent on the jokes landing and if a joke falls flat it can completely ruin a movie.

   Our Pitch: Pitch A: A group of friends explore a abandoned building, a surprise is waiting for them. Pitch B: Two agents are sent to gather information from high school students on a case, but are the students agents too? Pitch A grabs my attention by the suspense the idea creates. I love the idea that my groupmates wants to include acting in the opening, therefore, it will not just be music throughout the whole film.  It has a concern that teenagers are alone in buildings with no surveillance, which is exactly what I want. It evokes anxiety and different emotions to make the audience want to watch more. With this pitch, the setting alone is the most exciting part.  Pitch B is okay, however it seems a bit bland. Yes, agents are pretending to be friends with these high school students, but what else? The opening will just be lack lustering. The idea is still good to film, however, I just feel it would not live up to my expectations. The setting would just be places...

 For this project a few changes were made to the group from last time. Firstly, Ayannah is still a part of our group. When making the music video she worked very hard. Ayannah helped with several parts of the music video like acting, editing, and writing. Our group had several last minute issues with filming and Ayannah stepped up and became the only actor for our video. Her adaptability was very useful and integral in making the music video. Second, Nathaly is also still in the group. While there were some slight issues with scheduling conflicts, Nathaly still was very helpful. In the early stages of the music video her and I worked together to make the basic idea for what we would be making. Additionally, Nathaly created the storyboard as no one else was a capable artist in our group. Even though she had several conflicts in scheduling, Nathaly still showed up and did her best to be useful to the group.   Hello, my name is Benjamin Shanker and this is my blog. On this post I'll be going over general information about me. Where I go and went to school, my hobbies, my sports, and what I want to eventual be when I'm older. I am currently a 10th grader and attend Fort Lauderdale High School. At FLHS I am a part of the law program and take Cambridge courses. I first was attracted to this FLHS because I heard that it has a very prestigious law magnet. Ever since I was little I would read novels about lawyers and the law, my favorite was Theodore Boone by John Grisham, and ever since then I've wanted to become a lawyer. Now that I started attending FLHS I decided to do the Cambridge program on top of the law magnet so I can hopefully go to either FSU or UF using a Bright Futures scholarship. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   While creating this music video my group and I consistently looked back at other music videos in the same genre to grab inspiration. Due to this our finished product mostly used existing conventions and a similar filming style to videos within the genre. There were several things we saw from other pieces of media that we wanted to incorporate into our video. The main similarity between our video and other videos within the genre is the editing and shots. We saw a lot of distance filming in other videos and decided to make the majority of our video in the same way. For example, in our closing scene we have a wide tracking shot which switches to a point of view shot and then fades out. Now that I had all the videos and audios in place I could finally put it together to finish the project. To begin editing I started with the opening scene. I had three separate videos to choose from as I had Ayannah film multiple just in case. After putting all three down I decided on the last version of it that she filmed. I then put the video file into the project and cut it down till it made sense in the context of the video. Once that part was done I got the text messages that were sent and also put them into the video. I overlaid them on top of the video to show what Ayannah was doing on her phone in the opening scene. Now, the order for where the activities would be in the video wasn't determined yet so I tried different combinations to see which one looked the best. In the end I decided on ice cream, arcade, eating, and then the walking away scene. For the ice cream scene I had several angles and takes to work with so I had many choices to make.
